The Muumoni forest is an Important Bird Area No. 66 globally. The forest is ideal for: Bird Watching, Hiking, Nature Walks & Camping. The Hindes Babbler, a threatened bird in Kenya and vulnerable globally habits the forest among other bird species. It is also known to be the highest point in Kitui County.
